Precautions
This data is based on the maximum value of the wheel used under normal circumstances moving on a flat floor at maximum speed (4km/hr).
This formula is used when the wheel is moving on the uneven floor for security reasons.

Bearing / Rolling Resistance Diagram
Starting / Rolling Resistance
The circumstances of the floor, instrument weight, types of wheels, and structure of bearings could affect the starting and rolling resistance, and also affect operating.
The diagram below shows the relative information wheels starting resistances and the loading of different wheel-bearing types.

This information is based on tests of wheel dimensions and starting resistance of different wheel-bearing types.
C: Cup shape and cone shape bearings
G: Plain bearings
R: Rolling bearings
K: Ball bearings
Plain bearings (3000N equivalent to 100% loading).

Starting resistance of the different type materials
b: Blue-grey wheel
c: Black wheel
e: Elastic wheel
s: Cast-iron wheel
w: Soft rubber wheel
Black wheel, 2050N equivalent to 100% loading.
Rolling resistance can be taken as approximately 0.5X starting resistance.
